Selecting the Right Employee
The wrong choice is an expensive choice! Calculate
the cost of hiring, training, learning mistakes, possible
wasted or spoiled goods or equipment damage, plus
lower initial productivity and it becomes clear that
you make a substantial investment in a new employee.
These costs can equal a year’s salary. Protect
your investment by hiring carefully.
Take enough time to ensure a fit for your company.
Believe it or not, the right “fit” with
fellow employees and company goals and culture is
often more important than skills and specific job
experience! Remember, your employees represent your
company to the public and making a careful choice
now will help ensure you have an excellent addition
to your business.

How to Retain a Good
Employee
You will spend a lot of time and money training a
new employee and you don’t want that investment
to walk out the door to another employer! Remember,
employers compete for quality employees. Employees
will leave a company for better wage and benefit packages
but the top reasons include a lack of praise and recognition,
a poor fit with the company culture, poor training,
and little opportunity for growth. The better manager
you are – the more likely employees will stay
with you. Desirable employers are those that provide
skill, knowledge, and motivation. They are considerate,
open and respectful of their employees.
A few hints
to ensure a positive and profitable future together
for you and your employee. |
